Acquaint now yourself with Him [agree with God and show yourself to be conformed to His will] and be at peace; by that [you shall prosper and great] good shall come to you. Job 22:21 AMP

Ever since the Garden of Eden, God has continually sought a personal relationship with each and every man and woman. He wants us to really know Him. Becoming acquainted with God implies two things: being reconciled to Him and then coming to know Him as He really is—His true character. Those who seek God and find Him, who get acquainted with Him, agree with Him, and conform to His will, experience true peace—the peace that passes understanding (Philippians 4:7). The Word of God says that when you become acquainted with God, good will come your way.

Receive, I pray you, the law and instruction from His mouth and lay up His words in your heart.
Job 22:22 AMP

Receive God’s Word! Receiving God’s Word involves believing it and actually allowing it to impact your life and change your heart. Embrace God’s Word. Allow it to penetrate and influence your very soul—your thoughts; your feelings; your will. God’s Word does not profit you if it is left on the page, but it will greatly bless you if it is planted and growing in your heart, springing forth from your lips, and manifested through your deeds.

If you return to the Almighty [and submit and humble yourself before Him], you will be built up; if you put away unrighteousness far from your tents.  Job 22:23 AMP

When you return to God—choosing Him over the devil and your fleshly desires—and you press in to Him, He will build you up. The devil, on the other hand will tear you down. Sin gives the devil an advantage in your life, but when you walk away from sin and iniquity, when you push it away from you, you are choosing to truly honor and serve the Lord. Return to God—do things His way. Put sin, iniquity, wickedness and unrighteousness far away from your dwelling—from your own body—as well as from your house and family.

If you lay gold in the dust, and the gold of Ophir among the stones of the brook [considering them of little worth], And make the Almighty your gold and [the Lord] your precious silver treasure.  Job 22:24-25 AMP

Money and possessions should mean nothing to you compared to the Lord (Luke 16:13). If you want God’s blessing, then take the material things that are so important to you and put them away from you as if you are throwing gold in the dust, to be washed away by the brook. Make the Almighty your gold and your precious silver. Your heart will worship and trust in your treasure—whatever that is—so make God your treasure. Make God your treasure in order that your heart may look to Him and trust in Him above all earthly treasures or things mortal man depends on, because earthly treasures will perish and fail, but God is eternal, faithful, and unfailing!

Then you will have delight in the Almighty, and you will lift up your face to God. You will make your prayer to Him, and He will hear you, and you will pay your vows.  Job 22:26-27 AMP

So many people waste their time either complaining to God or complaining about Him. They believe Him to be in charge and responsible for all the bad things that happen to them, but they don’t believe in His power to help them! If they believed that God has the authority over all things, then why don’t they go to Him for help? They blame Him for the things they are unhappy about, but they have no faith in His ability or His willingness to help them. You know they have no faith in God because if they did, they would boldly go into the throne of grace to obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16).

If we really knew the Lord, then we would delight in Him! We would know just how much He loves us and is on our side, looking for the opportunity to show Himself strong on our behalf (2 Chronicles 16:9). When you delight in God and you lift your face to Him and pray to Him, He will hear you. Verse 27 says, “You will make your prayer to Him, and He will hear you, and you will pay your vows.” Your vows are seeds that are sown attached to a prayer prayed in expectation of an answer from the Lord. When you serve, honor, and obey God in all things, and when you have kept your promises to Him, you can boldly stand on His promises to you!

You shall also decide and decree a thing, and it shall be established for you; and the light [of God’s favor] shall shine upon your ways.  Job 22:28 AMP

The NKJV says, “You will also declare a thing” and the NIV says, “What you decide on will be done.” This scripture says that when you meet the conditions of God’s Word then whatever you decide, declare, and decree is what will be established unto you. What you proclaim in faith will come to pass! When you please the Lord, everything you decide on, declare, and decree—you will have! You can change your own destiny!
