Foundation Scriptures:

Also [Jesus] told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not to turn coward (faint, lose heart, and give up). 2 He said, In a certain city there was a judge who neither reverenced and feared God nor respected or considered man. 3 And there was a widow in that city who kept coming to him and saying, Protect and defend and give me justice against my adversary. 4 And for a time he would not; but later he said to himself, Though I have neither reverence or fear for God nor respect or consideration for man, 5 Yet because this widow continues to bother me, I will defend and protect and avenge her, lest she give me intolerable annoyance and wear me out by her continual coming or at the last she come and rail on me or assault me or strangle me. 6 Then the Lord said, Listen to what the unjust judge says! 7 And will not [our just] God defend and protect and avenge His elect (His chosen ones), who cry to Him day and night? Will He defer them and delay help on their behalf? 8 I tell you, He will defend and protect and avenge them speedily. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find [persistence in] faith on the earth? Luke 18:1-8 AMPC

1. Jesus Encouraged His Disciples to Pray.

a. To pray, means to ask.

b. But it is greater than that, it is putting a demand on what has been promised.

c. Prayer is God’s idea.

d. Jesus was inviting His disciples to come and interact with God, and not to give up.

e. The widow is a classic example of someone who would not give up until she got the desired results.

2. Do Not Lose Heart.

a. Jesus encourages us not to lose heart.

b. Do not give in to fear, doubt, unbelief, or discouragement.

c. Do not make excuses for unbelief, if you do not see the answer immediately.

d. It is your divine, blood-bought right to ask and to get an answer.

e. So do not lose heart, nor accept any opposition from the enemy, nor any thoughts of failure or quitting.

f. Jesus tells us to continue to ask God in prayer—day and night—with persistent faith and expectation.

g. And if we do this, God will not defer or delay His answer.

h. He will speedily defend and protect and avenge His elect (His chosen ones).

3. God’s Chosen Ones.

a. We are God’s blood-bought children.

b. According to the Word of God, ALL Christians—all those who believe—are His chosen and elect (Rom. 8:33; Col. 3:12; Tit. 1:1; Jn. 15:16; Eph. 1:4; 2:10; 2 Th. 2:13; 2 Jn. 1:1,13).

c. John 15:16 NKJV — You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.

4. Prayer and Fasting.

a. During these 31 Days of Prayer and Fasting and waiting on God:

b. What are we expecting?

c. What are you expecting?

d. What results are you looking for?

e. Both in the nation and in our personal lives.

f. That the plans of the enemy would be set back.

g. The wheels will be pulled off pharaoh’s chariots.

h. Total confusion in the camp of the wicked.

i. If the enemy digs a ditch, he will fall into it himself.

j. That the enemy would turn on himself/themselves, like a dog on its own tail.

k. That every wicked thing would be exposed.

l. That the Lord would have mercy on America one more time.

m. Another great spiritual awakening.

5. This Week.

a. Pressing in fervently.

b. What are you believing God for?

c. Next Friday—12 hours of prayer.

d. Fasting, as a church.

e. We pray.

f. We worship.

g. We give.

h. We act.

i. All done with the desire to follow Jesus.

j. For the Church, this will be a glorious week.
