OCTOBER 2005 JOURNAL

Newsletter

Dear Friends and Partners,

We greet you in the matchless Name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and King.

On August 29th 2005 two momentous events took place–one affecting hundreds of thousands of people in New Orleans in particular and impacting the entire nation in general, and the other directly affecting our family and all those who know us. On that Monday morning, Hurricane Katrina smashed into Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama, leaving devastation and misery in her wake and displacing a majority of the population. On that same morning at 11:00, our father, Derrick Howard-Browne, surrounded by family, peacefully went home to be with the Lord at the age of 81. We have included an insert in this month's newsletter to honor him.

Memories of Florida's devastating summer of hurricane storms in 2004 are still fresh in our minds and even though we have a huge outreach coming up at the end of this month, Good News Mamelodi, we were so moved by the plight of our neighbors on the Gulf Coast that we mobilized our local and Internet congregation at The River at Tampa Bay to action, to do whatever we could to send help and supplies to do our part to alleviate their suffering. Thus far we have sent three semi-trucks containing 5,000 pounds of frozen meat, water, clothing, blankets, towels, sleeping bags, linens & comforters, personal hygiene items and cleaning products.

We also raised $60,000 to pay for transporting the supplies and to bring relief to churches and congregations hardest hit by the hurricane. Because of the generosity of our people, we have been able to take offerings to several different ministries so far to help them pay their bills, repair their buildings, and help needy people in their area. Not only did they suffer losses, but their congregations have lost their homes and jobs and have been scattered far and wide. The pastors were extremely grateful for the help, because it is going to take months and, in some cases, even years to rebuild their communities.

Partners, we need you to stand with us as never before as we head for South Africa for Good News Mamelodi. The budget is around $600,000 and we need $400,000 right now to finish this crusade. We expect tens of thousands of people to be saved and delivered in this outreach. Please pray about sending your best gift this month to stand with us for the mighty harvest of souls. We pray that God will supernaturally bless and prosper you and your family as you trust Him to bless you so that you can be a blessing.

We love and appreciate you and all you do to stand with us and hold up our hands as we contend for the souls of men! "Blessed is he who considers the poor; The Lord will deliver him in time of trouble. The Lord will preserve him and keep him alive, and he will be blessed on the earth; You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies. The Lord will strengthen him on his bed of illness; You will sustain him on his sickbed."  Psalms 41:1-3 NKJV

Yours for Revival and the Harvest,
Drs. Rodney and Adonica Howard-Browne
