Dear Friends and Partners,
Thank you so much for your help in every way–your financial help, your faith and your prayers for Soweto!
Good News Soweto was a great success! It was our first major outreach in a foreign nation that we sponsored and arranged on our own. In the past, we have sowed hundreds of thousands of dollars into other ministries who do crusade evangelism in mostly third-world nations, but this was the first one we put together. These types of outreaches require an incredible amount of work and we had very few workers available to do what needs to be done. Thank the Lord for Eric and Jennifer Gonyon! They went to South Africa for two months and did a phenomenal job of putting the whole crusade together! They had an extremely difficult task and they did a fantastic job.
Thank God for His favor. We may not always have the resources or the expertise, but if we have the will to obey the call and if we have the favor of God, we will be light-years ahead! God did such awesome things. We had much opposition–not from the world, but from pastors–as usual. But if the wind of God blows on something, there is no man that can stop it. We had some fantastic pastors and evangelists on board with us–about 450 of them. The police force were thrilled with the meeting, government officials were so happy we came, and all of them want us to come back to Soweto next year for Good News Soweto Part 2!
Even after only two nights of the crusade, many pastors reported that the number of people attending their church service on that next Sunday morning was much bigger than usual. One pastor told us that his tent was way too small for all the people!
GodTV filmed Good News Soweto and broadcasted live every night–the first seven days across the African continent and the last three across the entire world. We also had two different secular radio stations–Rainbow FM and Jozi FM–broadcast each evening live across the Gauteng area covering millions of people. The response was overwhelming–so much so that they asked us to please send pastors to answer the phones, take prayer requests, and answer questions.
We had people counting the crowd who count Reinhard Bonnke’s crowds and they told us that we had about 20,000 on the first night and by the last night the official (conservative) count was 115,000 people! They told us that the actual last-night total was probably closer to 130,000! Also, so many thousands of people answered the altar calls and they were packed in so tight that our counselors (we had an average of only 130 every night) had a hard time reaching everyone with the decision cards so we had to count how many booklets we gave away to try to get a more accurate soul count. Altogether we gave out 177,600 follow-up booklets, but many more thousands of people received Jesus over the radio as well. We do not have the space here to tell of all the wonderful healings, miracles, and transformations we saw, so we have posted a report on revival.com where you can go to read more.
If you sowed into Good News Soweto this is your harvest! Thank you for helping us to go to the nations! May the Lord abundantly bless you and your family this holiday season and always!
Yours for Revival and the Harvest,
Drs. Rodney and Adonica Howard-Browne
